Current Needs in Bloomington-Peoria

Dear friends,

Proverbs 11:25  says:”Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and one who waters will himself be watered.”

September marks the coming of fall, however; the weather is still quite summer-like!   The ground is dry and needs water.  In the same way, we have many in the foster care community who are in need.  God’s Word tells us that those who give will themselves be refreshed as dry ground is refreshed by a watering.  Would you consider this as you take a look at the following opportunities and contact us for more information on any of these ways to serve?  We are so grateful to you all!

There is still time to sign up to help!
We are thankful and excited about this opportunity to serve a local foster care parent!  PROJECT RENOVATE is scheduled for September 18-19 in Peoria!  Whether you have much construction experience, very little, or none at all, we would love to have you sign up and join us in blessing this dear woman who has given so much love to foster children over many years.  To find out more and sign up, please go to
Meet a local need
Is your church or small group interested in sponsoring a TFI Project to benefit someone in the foster care community?  How about putting together First Aid Kits or Home Safety Kits?  We have an agency who would like to have these to give out to families who need them.  Contact us if you would like to know more about this opportunity to meet this need.

Do you have toys and/or games in “like new” condition?  We are aware of an agency visitation room that could use them!

Items always needed in our local agencies include the following:

Diapers and Wipes   The agencies have use for both of these items daily.

Gift Cards   Kids often come into care with nothing and these gift cards are so helpful to provide some basic necessities.
Fast Food Gift Cards–These are often used when a child is taken into protective custody.  Some suggestions are McDonald’s or Wendy’s.
Grocery/Clothing Gift Cards–Cards from places like Wal-Mart or Meier are wonderful as well as Kohls.
Gas Cards–Often there is a lot of driving to various appointments and these cards are a huge help.

New Clothing   As children come into care they often need clothing.  Except for infants, all sizes of NEW clothes would be so helpful and appreciated!  As you shop those end of summer sales, perhaps you will see a great deal on some new clothing that could be given to a child in need!

Worker Appreciation Efforts  for all of our agencies are always a huge encouragement to these workers.  Homemade treats or other goodies can be dropped off at the agency of your choice.  Don’t let these workers feel forgotten!
