Ripple Effect: Demetria Campbell

As a child, Demetria Campbell witnessed a life of giving and serving exemplified by her grandmother. She came to realize as an adult that the same skill set and desire to love and serve others was engrained in her. So Demetria pursued a nursing degree with her passion to serve. However, after taking care of her grandmother as she passed away from Alzheimers, Demetria pulled out of the nursing field and took a step back. From there, she ended up in social work in Florida. She says she tried to leave it as well, but just kept coming right back […]

Ripple Effect: Corey and Amy Nellis

Corey and Amy Nellis were selected as this quarter’s foster parent Ripple Effect nominees. The Nellis’s were nominated after taking in a child who was non-verbal, with limited sight, questionable hearing, and behavioral issues that come along with those physical limitations. They took her in to foster until DFCS could find a placement – which ended up being over a year. There were out of town doctor’s appointments and they were called to the school often. One of the child’s siblings was placed in a therapeutic foster home and Amy and Corey would let her come and stay the weekend. […]

Current Needs- Northwest Georgia (June 2017)

Want to get involved in the ministry of foster care but don’t know where to start? Here are a few suggestions that I would love to discuss with you. Become a Foster Home. Could you welcome one child into your home to love and cherish for a short time? Then we need you! Become a Respite or Emergency Home. We need homes that are willing to take children for […]

2017 Mid-Year Update

We’ve been busy here in Northwest Georgia with lots of service projects geared toward finding the needs of the foster community and doing what we can to fill them. TFI was able to get donations from a few people and ship a brand new bunk bed, mattresses, and sheets to the foster family within a few days! These three […]
